SIGOPS addresses a broad spectrum of issues associated with operating systems research and development. Members are drawn from a broad community spanning industry, academia and government. SIGOPS supports many conferences and workshops, including the biennial Symposium on Operating Systems Principles and the SIGOPS European Workshop, held in Europe in alternate years.

Interactions with computer architecture languages, and compilers; multiprocessing, distributed, and mobile computing including the Internet; resource management, performance evaluation; reliability; security; and interprocess communication.
