- 简介:Fundamental to medical research, diagnostic procedures and therapy, the capacity to accurately capture the status of tissues, organs and systems is a vital technology in current medical practice and for the foreseeable future. Impressive progress with techniques such as PET, MRI and CT has already revolutionized noninvasive clinical investigation and therapy; with applications ranging from the detection of brain activity to the visualization of soft tissue in a joint. The ever-increasing range of medical imaging techniques has improved the monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of patients with serious conditions in areas such as oncology, cardiology and neurology. Further to advancements in clinical practice, imaging has enabled R+D scientists to detect precise targets of pharmacological agents. Imaging in Medicine will provide a forum for research updates on recent developments in this innovative field. No longer just a photographic tool, medical imaging research is focusing on developing techniques that enable the utilization of imaging technologies for determining functional status and for guidance during procedures. Current research efforts into PET imaging will allow medical imaging to capture biological processes at the cellular level. Imaging in Medicine will track this impending progress of radiology from structural (stationary) to functional (dynamic) imaging. Imaging is a science pertinent to professionals across the medical community, and reviews included in Imaging in Medicine are selected to provide for this diverse disciplinary involvement. The journal provides an opportunity for discussion and debate on emerging approaches and technologies, places in context their applications in clinical settings and evaluates prospects for further development. Articles published in Imaging in Medicine cover key areas such as: Updates on imaging diagnostic and treatment techniques in specific areas of anatomy, including neuro, cardiovascular, breast, abdominal and musculoskeletal imaging The effectiveness of scanning techniques relative to others Evaluations and opinion on the best imaging techniques for a particular diagnostic area Refining the art of balancing optimal image resolution with patient safety; risk stratification/assessment Perspectives on early diagnosis versus unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation Feedback on improvements in temporal and spatial resolution The implementation of disease-detecting screening programs in different countries/settings/institutions Transferring raw technology advances into effective, commonplace clinical practice Developing computer processing to archive and display images for analysis Essential updates on recent research and clinical practice in the field are reported and analyzed by international experts. Imaging in Medicine delivers this information in a succinct and clear format, with the assimilation of knowledge facilitated through its high readability.
